Curriculum that is connected to students’ lives and the communities in which they live enhances the relevance and rigour of learning. An important step in this process is establishing students’ prior knowledge in order to design and provide learning experiences that build on this knowledge (TfEL Domain 4).
In 2016 staff at the ASMS are focusing on designing teaching and learning that more effectively connects to students lives and enables them to personalise their learning experiences. Each ASMS staff member has a professional learning plan which outlines 3 key objectives to deepen their knowledge, practice and engagement to personalise and connect learning for their students.
This program provides the opportunity to discuss ASMS staff inquiry into their work as teaching team members and their developing promising practices to personalise learning. For school leaders interested in leading change there is the opportunity to discuss leadership of professional learning that supports this work.
